FedEx Freight International Graduate Logistics Case Competition 2008

Purpose

This event brings together Graduate Students from major Universities studying Logistics and Supply Chain Management as teams of 5-6 students competing for prestige, cash prizes and tremendous opportunities to network with fellow students and industry professionals. The by invitation only event has grown from 9 teams in 2006, to 12 in 2007 and plans to grow to 16 teams in 2010.

Timeline and Major Event Activities

On Wednesday and Thursday, there are optional activities for teams arriving prior to the formal Thursday night opening reception include a FedEx Freight Terminal tour, a University of Arkansas RFID laboratory tour and a Wal-Mart Distribution Center tour.

  • Team participants and university representatives meet on Thursday night at the opening reception and draw a letter that serves as their team name until the end of the competition.
  • Early Friday morning teams receive their cases and have 24 hours to prepare in their respective war rooms with materials they have brought with them. No outside resources, such as the Internet are permitted.
  • On Friday evening the Judges and University Representatives meet for Dinner and prepare for judging.
  • Saturday morning begins with the judging in each of the 3-4 tracts. Each tract has 4 industry judges and one faculty advisor.
  • After lunch the 3 finalists are announced and the runoff is completed.
  • The final event on Saturday evening brings judges, students and participants together for a dinner banquet, with presentation of final awards.
