John Aloysius is an Associate Professor in the Information Systems Department at the University of Arkansas. His doctoral degree is in Operations Management and Management Science from Temple University, and his research interests have evolved into a range of aspects and applications of behavioral decision making. He is a member of The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, the Society for Judgment and Decision Making, and the American Economics Association. He believes that much theoretical research in his areas of interest is under-utilized by practitioners. Therefore the focus of his research is to link normative (the way things should be) models with descriptive (the way things actually are) insights in order to device better prescriptive (what should be done) recommendations. In his teaching he attempts to emphasize that abstract models are useful decision tools for managers as long as they understand the limitations of the models in complex environments. |
