John E. Delery joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas in 1992 and is currently a Professor of Management. He teaches in the areas of human resource management and organizational staffing.

His current research interests include the strategic management of human resources, the structure of human resource management systems, and the selection interview. Specifically, he is interested in how the management of human resources influences organizational performance and profitability. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Transportation (through the Mack-Blackwell Rural Transportation Research Center), and the Center for Human Resource Management at Texas A&M University. He has published articles in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, Human Resource Management Review, and Research in Personnel/Human Resource Management.

In 1996,he was a co-recipient of the Scholarly Achievement Award from the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management. In 2002 he was a co-recipient of the best conference paper award in the Human Resources division of the Academy of Management, and in 2003 he was awarded the Walton College Research Award.

He serves on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management, Quality Management Journal and Organization Studies. He has also been an active member of the Human Resources division of the Academy of Management, where he served on the Executive Committee and was a coordinator or co-coordinator for the division's doctoral student consortium five times.
