Terry K. Tremwel began as research director of the Supply Chain Management Research Center (SCMRC) at the University of Arkansas in April 2006. Previously, he was an Industrial Engineer with ABF Freight System in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Professional Engineer doing hydrologic modeling for the St Johns River Water Management District in Palatka, Florida. Prior to that, he worked in civil engineering consulting and international development work for 7 years. He holds four degrees from land grant universities: BS Agricultural Engineering, UC Davis 1982; MS Agricultural Engineering, Iowa State University 1985; PhD Agricultural Engineering, University of Florida 1992; and MBA, University of Arkansas 2004. Tremwel heads the research of the center, working with faculty and students to produce white papers and case studies and providing a bridge between member companies of the Center and the resources of the University. He has interests in improved efficiencies in the supply network and in profitable global sustainability from field and factory inputs to consumer. Tremwel leads the SCMRC in its sustainability efforts in renewable energy generation and resource use efficiencies that are applicable to transportation and distribution center environments. This convergence of interests led to several papers on the supply chain in the wind industry. The SCMRC seeks opportunities for active collaboration with companies seeking greater efficiencies throughout their supply chain. Tremwel developed and teaches the first sustainability class taught at the Walton College. |
